A damp Dublin day

Today was a Dublin day. After a fantastic sleep (over 10 hours - the best since leaving Australia) we caught the luas (light rail) into the city to met up with Sarah Legrand who’d flown in from London the previous evening. Sarah has been a zoom member of Benedictus for some years and this was our first meeting in the flesh. It was delightful.

We met under the bell tower in Trinity College and decided first to visit the Book of Kells in the Trinity College library. What a treat!

The illuminations are intricate, whimsical and very beautiful. I love this illustrated letter P - early calisthenics!

The old library at Trinity College was once called ‘the most beautiful room in Ireland’. It is stunning.

Following this we retired to O’Neill’s a three hundred year old pub for a leisurely lunch. The Beef and Guinness Stew was delicious.

Our day concluded with a classical music concert in the National Concert Hall.

Our thanks to Fr Jim who kindly invited us to join him and his friends for this musical feast.
