We are in the midst of Sarah’s series of talks in the parish of Balally. To date, they have been well received. The talks are taking place in the evening, and this allows us some space and time during the day. We are making the most of it to explore and walk.
This afternoon (Monday) we spent more time wandering the streets and lanes of Dublin. Here’s a few shots of what we saw.
Above is one of the sculptured heads above the stone door arch of the door to the Chapel Royal in Dublin Castle. And below, the chapel itself.
More from the castle precinct.
Christchurch Cathedral.
The river Liffey runs through the centre of the city. It was cloudy and cold this morning but as you can see the clouds have lifted and the sun has broken through. In a few weeks the trees will leaf and the city will take on a different complexion.
On Tuesday, Paul Murphy (a member of the parish who lives just down the road from Bono!!) took us back to Glendalough for a longer walk across hill and dale.
Glendalough Abbey is in the distance.
A banana break.
This old glaciated valley has high high sides with masses of moraine near the bottom.
The gorse was in bloom all along the lower valley.
Three hours later we completed the loop and returned to the Abbey. It was a wonderful walk and good training for what lies ahead in Spain.
Ah, Glendalough, what an amazing place! I hope you didn't disturb Kevin's sleep. So wonderful to follow your adventures - the music, the elements, the raw beauty. Thank you for bringing us all the pictures. Looking forward to visions of Spain!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photographs!
ReplyDeleteStunning hills and dales! Not sure I clocked Dublin way to have such wonderful scenery. And you’re grinning quite a bit… might be you’re enjoying yourselves to be sure?! May it continue! Love Deb😘
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of you both! We walked part of the Wicklow Way in April/May 2017. We loved Glendalough (partly because it didn't rain those days, but also for its beauty and peace). Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Pauline R
